Draco is planning to revamp it and make it more like Inquisitor.
Despite one of the most attractive things about duelling being its simplicity and quickness.

make it too complex and it losses it's fun as you spend too long looking up rules etc, isn't that what happened with the 2nd ed?

Remember that the 40K system did have some problems... through we were working them out.
Maybe we should wait to see what the new rules look like and then decide on which to use.

true that, no point shooting something down without even seeing it

Another point to remember is that we were all ready kinda working on an Inq. dueling system, be that it got stalled, abandoned and is probably lost now.
Also is there really any problem from us using the current system now, or even using both systens when they come out?

As long as least the dueling vets/mods get to see it before it goes public, I think anyway, for any tweeks. Especially as some of us have a lot of experience of dueling, likes, dislikes, cheese/no brainer choices etc. I for one would welcome more variety in characters so it was actually difficult to pick one char over another, in the past I have found many seem to use very similar chars/upgrades.

i'd say we stick to the old system and enhance until GW brings out those three wh40k roleplaybooks august2007-march2008.
variety is never a reason,we can always include more stuff.
we could also just take stuff from other rpgs. look at shadowrun for example. every piece of wargear could be represented by wh40k fluff, too.
well,in my honest opinion duelling should stay duelling and if we want a more complex more rpg'ish system we should just add it to aftermath, too.
for developing duelling, i think the most interesting step would be to integrate the second dimension and put the game on some kind of map.
for the relevance of a campaign and aftermath i still think duelling should be kept as simple as possible just to have simple tournaments. a real RPG is optional.

As long as least the dueling vets/mods get to see it before it goes public Does you mean the golden oldies? And to be fair, I agree that making it Inquisitor will make it a little complex for its title, leave the RPG for another section of Aftermath when its been developed more.

Hey M2 good to see you back Well I mean many of us spent hours on end duelling, so that our characters were nigh invincible *cough* "Nef and Zuggy" *cough* Im just thinking the one lesson I learnt last time was developing something like duelling by yourself not only means the likelihood of a burn out is higher, but also the chances are that it will be more balanced on release and more fresh ideas if more people are involved in its development, rather than coming in when most of it has been written and people *stomp all over it* like they do when a new codex comes out. My two pennies.

Indeed. Yarium tried to make it more like Inquisitor. We got so far... before it got abandoned. I still have many maps drawn by various people some where on my PC we were going to use to give dueling a location and so a new dimension.
I think this system is solid. When we find problems. We work them out. We added the "agile" rule to try balance smaller characters against T5s and theres enough armour piercing stuff out there to take down the 3+ armour save.

<3 My Dire Avenger... Lost the sheet a long time ago though. Diresword was a nice weapon. I liked the Duelling system as it was, with the quests and stuff. It was very enjoyable with alot of RP potential. The Inq would be nice, but the problem that Drac is coming into is the Races. Inq is basically a Necromunder-esque Inquisitor based thing, with only a few races with actual rules.
I'm not sure if its going to work, + leaving it untill the 40k RPG comes out would be a nice idea if the RPG wasn't also Necromunder-ish. Hardly any other races in the game apparently, just humans and mutants.
