Aftermath Dueling 1st Edition "Classic": "For those of us who've been here too long!"
Below is all I, and a few people in chat can remember, since I know noone who has the original rules (I actually might have them somewhere on my HDD). The only thing modified is the special rule thing. Before it required a mod to OK it, but that would be too time consuming now due to the large community, hence the change. Also, I don't recall if we used an injury table back then, but we can for the fun of it! Back in the day, there were compulsory fluff write ups when you reported a battle, you may do this if you wish, but these aren't official, so it's not required.
Rules:
Character Creation: Create a character from your codex; they may be no more than 75 points. Normal wargear restrictions apply. You may select 1 special rule from a character of your codex as long as the special character who's skill you are takeing's cost is no more than 150 points.
When creating a character, please tag it with [Duel1st] in the thread title to distinguish which system it is from.
Restricted Wargear: Witchblade/burning fist combo.
Additional Rules:
Parry: During combat, you may make a parry roll after the enemy rolls a successful hit but before they roll to wound. Parry succeeds on a 5+.
Parryrolls may never ever be modified.
Game Sequence: Roll to see who goes first. Duelists are assumed to start 6 inches away from eachother. All other 40k game turn rules apply.
Injury Table: See Faraith's post.
Experiance System: Take your chars cost, multiply it by the next level, thats how much extra xp in addition to what you have to attain the next level. Xp earnt for each duel is equal to your opponents cost, if you only manage to wound them and they flee, then you only receive half of their cost. If you flee/are killed whilst in a duel, but have managed to wound your opponent, then you receive half of their current points cost in xp.
Experiance bonuses: For every level that is a mutliple of 3, you gain a point in WS or I. For every level that is a mutliple of 4, you gain a point in BS or A or Ld. For every level that is a mutliple of 5 you gain a point in S or T or W. On levels where two or more bonuses apply, you can choose from each of the relevant multiples.
Wargear: You get 10 points for wargear each level.
Instakill: Instakill weapons do not need to roll to wound, they automatically inflict 1 wound on their target. Invulnerable saves allowed.
Run away!: Those who run away live to fight another day! You may opt to run away at any time between phases, but may only do so if you have a good, fluffy reason.
