Video game publisher THQ and tabletop game publisher Games Workshop have already enjoyed great success since 2004 with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, the popular real-time strategy game based on the gritty and brutal Warhammer 40,000 sci-fi universe. The game has given rise to two expansion packs, the most recent of which won GameSpot's award for Best Expansion Pack of 2006 and remains a popular title with strategy enthusiasts. Heavy is the cyber-crown of the future, apparently. Today, the two publishers are announcing an extension to their licensing agreement to work together on new projects, including a Warhammer 40,000 massively multiplayer online game. The first hints at such a project came last November, when Relic Entertainment, developer of the Warhammer 40,000 real-time strategy series, posted a want ad for MMOG developers. As it turns out, though, another studio--Austin, Texas-based Vigil Games, will be working on the new project, which should not be confused with the swords-and-sorcery MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. more here

As we were saying in ToL last night. If it's less than a 15+, they've mutilated the fluff.

lol yeah pretty much, hoping they keep it dark and gritty and probably going to be 2-3 years before we see its release so until then warhammer online will have to do
can't wait for this game though, will be combining my 2 favourite things; 40k and MMOs ;D ;D ;D

Another thing will be interesting to see what they do with will be races.
I know all the [insert race here] fanboys will [INQUISTIONAL EDIT: purity-censored] and [INQUISTIONAL EDIT: purity-censored] and [INQUISTIONAL EDIT: purity-censored] if they don't include their favourite races. But quite frankly, I think it has enough potential as a game set in, for example, Necromunda underhive.

On a side note, I love our language filter!

tbh i think something like Necromunda/GorkaMorka (oh that brings back fun memories) is probably the best way that they could pull this MMO off, pretty sure they won't be doing anything on the scale of a whole galaxy/star system nevermind the whole 40k universe. They will have to restrict it somewhat, you could never fit all of 40k in 1 game, even if it is an MMO
and I love the language filter as well!! think i'm going to have to start swearing and cursing more

On a side note, I love our language filter! I thought it was unnecessarily long I was going to see if we could change it a long time ago. But we had just about no members, and those we did have didn't swear too often (with a couple of exceptions) so it was irrelevant anyway.

I'm more excited about BI's 40k RPG to be fair,
The word censor is fairly long, but folks don't tend to swear much anyways.

Personally I would love to see 40k MMO in the vein of Planetside. Now that would be worth playing.

Think the Warhammer Fantasy MMO Looks like it may be promising, and if done in a simalar way would be cool. But like Drac said I think there is a lot of possible Necromunder Potential there, Gangs vs. Gangs would be awesome.

I'd hope the 40k MMO is nothing like the fantasy one. Needs to be much more gritty, with gore. lots of gore.
